Kinetics of the dithionite reduction of membrane-bound and free microsomal cytochrome b5

Abstract

The approach of SO2 to the site of electron transfer of cytochrome b5 bound to small unilamellar phosphatidylcholine vesicles is unhindered by the phospholipid membrane; this result is consistent with a model for electron transfer to the partially exposed haem edge of the cytochrome.
