Tailored-rheology: chitosan derivatives with branched pendant sugar chains

Abstract

The amine functionalities of chitosan have been reductively aminated with the aldehyde obtained by reductive ozonolysis of allyl α-D-galactopyranoside; the rheology of aqueous solutions of the products depends on the degree of substitution.
