Kinetic determination of the bond dissociation energy D(Me3SiCMe2CH2–H) and the magnitude of the stabilisation energy in a β-silicon-substituted alkyl radical

Abstract

A kinetic study of the gas-phase reaction between iodine and Me3SiCMe3 is interpreted to provide a β-silicon stabilisation energy of ca. 12 kJ mol–1 in the Me3SiCMe2CH2· radical.
