Polarography-based selective titrations of carboxylate and phosphonate ligands used in detergent formulations

Abstract

Monoamperometric titration using dropping-mercury or platinum electrodes with periodic renewal of the diffusion layer of sequestrating agents used in detergent formulations has been performed with some metal ions. The choice of the titrant cations was made on the basis of their polarographic behaviour in comparison with that exhibited by the relevant complexes. Satisfactory results were obtained and are discussed.
