Synthetic inorganic ion-exchange materials. Part XLII. Ion-exchange selectivity of divalent transition metals and lead on titanium antimonate and some chromatographic separations

Abstract

The equilibrium distribution coefficients of divalent transition metals and lead have been determined on a titanium antimonate (TiSbA) cation exchanger. The selectivity sequence Mn(II) < Ni(II) < Cd(II) < Zn(II) < Co(II) < Cu(II) < Fe(II) < Pb(II) was established for divalent metal ions (10–4M) on TiSbA with different Ti to Sb molar ratios in nitric acid media. Useful separations of lead from transition metals and alkaline earth metals using relatively small columns of TiSbA are discussed.
