Near-threshold electron-impact excitation of sulphur dioxide
Abstract
The near-threshold excitation of sulphur dioxide has been studied using a trapped-electron spectrometer. The results suggest that excitation energies for the three low-lying triplet electronic energy states, 3B1, 3B2 and 3A2, all lie within the range 3.1–3.9 eV and that two other triplet states are excited at ca. 7.75 and 8.4 eV electron energy loss.
