Elementary reactions of the SF radical. Part 2.—The reactions SF + X (X = O, N, NO2, NO and O2)

Abstract

The kinetics of reactions involving ground-state SF (X2Π) radicals have been studied in a discharge-flow system at 295 K using mass-spectrometric detection. The SF radical was generated by the reaction of F atoms with OCS: F + OCS → SF + CO.

The rate constants (295 K) for the following reactions of ground-state SF(X2Π) radicals have been determined: SF + O → SO + F, k=(1.70 ± 0.62)× 10–10 cm3 s–1, SF + N → NS + F, k=(1.71 ± 0.61)× 10–11 cm3 s–1, SF + NO2→ OSF + NO, k=(2.25 ± 0.34)× 10–11 cm3 s–1, SF + NO → products, k < 8 × 10–15 cm3 s–1, SF + O2→ products, k < 1 × 10–14 cm3 s–1.
