Kinetic electron spin resonance investigation of the monohydronitro free radical of 2,3,5,6-tetrachloronitrobenzene

Abstract

The e.s.r. spectrum of the short-lived monohydronitro radical from 2,3,5,6-tetrachloronitro-benzene has been obtained by ultraviolet photolysis. The kinetics and energetics of radical recombination have been measured with the aid of two techniques:(i) switching off the radiation from a 1 kW ultraviolet lamp and (ii) pulses from an ultraviolet laser. The two sets of data are in good agreement.
