Liquidus measurements and coupled thermodynamic–phase-diagram analysis of the NaCl–KCl system

Abstract

The liquidus of the NaCl–KCl system has been measured by a cooling-curve technique. A coupled thermodynamic–phase-diagram analysis of all available thermodynamic and phase-diagram data has been performed to obtain equations for the Gibbs energies of the liquid and solid phases which can be used to generate all the thermodynamic properties and the phase diagram. This analysis has permitted the solidus to be calculated.
