Photoelectron spectra of the aminodifluoroboranes NH2BF2, NHMeBF2, and NMe2BF2

Abstract

Photoelectron spectra of the aminodifluoroboranes NH2BF2, NHMeBF2, and NMe2BF2 have been recorded. The results are discussed and compared with theoretical calculations. The first ionization potentials of NH2BF2, NHMeBF2, and NMe2BF2 are 11.47, 10.45, and 9.49 eV respectively. The study shows that BF3 reacts with NH3, NH2Me, and NHMe2 to form solid products which on vaporisation yield species resulting from the elimination of HF from the classical donor–acceptor complexes NH3BF3, NH2MeBF3, and NHMe2BF3 respectively.
