Abstract

The synthesis and characterisation of complexes of platinum, of the general formula [Pt(cod){Fe(C5H4Cl)(C5H3Cl)}L][cod =cis,cis-cyclo-octa-1,5-diene; L = Cl, Br, I, CH3, CH2Ph, or Fe(C5H4Cl)(C5H3Cl)], are reported. A single-crystal X-ray structure determination of [Pt(cod){Fe(C5H4Cl)(C5H3Cl)}2](R= 0.0485 for 2 553 independent reflections) showed a DL arrangement of the ferrocenyl groups, with a single crystal consisting of molecules of one enantiomer.
