Photochemical ring contraction of 8-aza- and 8-oxa-3,4-diazatricyclo[5.1.0.02,6]oct-4-enes

Abstract

Photolysis of the 8-oxa-3,4-diazatricyclo[5.1.0.02,6]oct-4-enes (7) results in a ring transformation to give the 6-formyl-2,3-diazabicyclo[3.1.0]hex-3-enes (9), whereas the 8-aza compounds (8) give the 2-amino-3-cyano-5-azabicyclo[2.1.0]pentanes (12) by cleavage of the N–N bond.
