Photochemistry of [(η5-C5Me5)Re(CO)3] in benzene solution structure of [{(η5-C5Me5)Re(CO)2}2(µ-η2,η2′-C6H6)

Abstract

U.v irradiation of {(η⁵C₅Me₅)Re(CO)₃] in benzene yields the stable complex [{(η-⁵C₅Me₅)Re(CO)₂}₂(µ-η²,η^2′-C₆H₆)]; X-ray diffraction reveals a pronounced double-bond localization in the double co-ordinated benzene ligand.
