Abstract

Chloromagnesium trialkylvinylborate, (R3BCH[double bond, length half m-dash]CH2)MgCl, on reaction with carbon dioxide under pressure, followed by oxidation with alkaline hydrogen peroxide, gives a β-hydroxycarboxylic acid.
