3-Hydroxypyrroles [pyrrol-3(2H)-ones]

Abstract

Simple 3-hydroxypyrroles are obtained by pyrolysis of appropriate aminomethylene Meldrum's acid derivatives: the unusual reactions of these compounds with acids, bases, and electrophiles is discussed.
