Insertion of isocyanide into the uranium–carbon σ-bond of triscyclopentadienyl(methyl)uranium(IV): spectroscopic and structural characterization of the resulting η2-N-cyclohexyliminoethyl complex

Abstract

U(cp)3Me(cp =η5-cyclopentadienyl) reacts at room temperature with CNC6H11 to give quantitatively the insertion product U(cp)32-Cme[double bond, length half m-dash]N(C6H11)], the 1H n.m.r. data and the X-ray crystal structure of which show that the imine ligand is η2-co-ordinated; the cyclohexyl group is equatorially substituted by the N atom and experiences notable steric congestion.
