Spectrophotometric determination of molybdenum in steels with pyrocatechol and neotetrazolium chloride

Abstract

A method is described for the spectrophotometric determination of molybdenum in alloys, which is based on the formation of an ion association complex between the molybdenum pyrocatechol anion, [MoO2Cl2-(catechol)]2–, and neotetrazolium chloride. The results presented show that the method is more selective than other previously used catechol-based procedures.
