Reaction of 3-hydroxycholesta-4,6-dienes with m-chloroperbenzoic acid

Abstract

The reaction of two conjugated dienols, 1α,3α-dihydroxycholesta-4,6-diene and 3β-hydroxycholesta-4,6-diene with m-chloroperbenzoic acid was studied. The only products are 4,7-dihydroxy-5-ene 7-chlorobenzoate derivatives. The formation of these compounds is discussed.
