A consideration of Pitzer's equations for activity and osmotic coefficients in mixed electrolytes

Abstract

A recent paper with the same title questioned the agreement of these equations with the requirements relating the change of a property of one component with that of another component in a mixture. It is shown that these equations are all derived from a single expression for the excess Gibbs energy and that this derivation guarantees agreement with these requirements. The agreement is also verified by differentiation.
