A novel factor contributing to the stability of N-containing ylides has been clarified by X-ray photoelectron and i.r. spectroscopic measurements of aminimide–palladium complexes, [[graphic omitted]C(O)R4}2]. An interaction through the σ bond between the quaternary nitrogen and the anionic nitrogen was observed in the ylide bond in the aminimide–palladium complexes.
