Kinetics of the reactions of 5,7,7,12,12,14-hexamethyl-1,4,8,11-tetra-azacyclotetradeca-4,14-dienenickel(II) and 5,7,7,12,14,14-hexamethyl-1,4,8,11-tetra-azacyclotetradeca-4,11-dienenickel(II) with cyanide

Abstract

The reactions of the title compounds with cyanide to form [Ni(CN)4]2– take place by way of different parallel paths. The effect on the reaction rate of varying the concentration of CN, HCN, and OH was studied at 25 °C and l= 0.1 mol dm–3. Some differences between the two isomers are observed. A mechanism for the two reactions is proposed.
