Platinum(0) activation of rhenium polyhydride complexes: synthesis and X-ray crystal structure of the hydrido-ethyene complelx [ReH3(C2H4)2(PPhPri2)2]

Abstract

In the presence of [Pt(PPhBut2)2] or [Pt(C2H4)2(PPhPri2)] and ethylene (1 atm), [ReH7(PR3)2][PR3= PPhPri2(1a); P(cyclopently)3(1b)] reacts to give [ReH3(c2H4)2(PR3)2](2), which affords [ReH5(C2H4)(PR3)2](3) on exposure to H2(1 atm).
