An SN2(intermediate)mechanism for solvolysis of organosilicon iodides?
Abstract
The hydrolysis (in H2O–MeCN or H2O–Me2So)and methanolysis of TsiSiR2I[Tsi =(Me3Si)3C; R = Ph or Et] give only unrearranged products TsiSiR2Y(Y = OH or OMe); thus the methanolyses of TsiSiMe2I and Tsi SiPhHI Seem likely to be SN2(intermediate)rather than SN1 processes as previously suggested.
