The electron spin resonance spectrum of the hexamethylbutadiene radical cation, and evidence for a new molecular rearrangement of acetylenes
Abstract
The e.s.r. spectrum of the hexamethylbutadiene radical cation, Me2CCMeCMeCMe2˙+, is observed when either hexamethylbutadiene or di-t-butylacetylene is treated with aluminum chloride in dichloromethane; the latter reaction implies a novel molecular rearrangement.
