Simple and sensitive ion chromatograph for trace metal determination

Abstract

A simple non-suppressed ion-chromatographic system is described for the determination of cations. The design of a novel detector and post-column reactor, exhibiting high sensitivity and low dispersion, are described in detail together with an on-column cation concentration procedure. The system has a linearity of over three orders of magnitude and is satisfactory for determining cations present in aqueous media down to a level of a few parts per billion in the presence of high concentrations of salt and organic materials.
