A pulsed alkene titration investigation of reverse hydrogen spillover
Abstract
A pulsed alkene titration in an inert-gas stream has been used as a means of determining the amount of spilt-over hydrogen present in a series of Pt/CPG (controlled-pore glass) catalysts. It was found that the amount of reverse hydrogen spillover is less in a catalyst exposed to hydrogen for 13 h than in one in which the initial hydrogen spillover took place over a period of only 1 h. During the initial stages of the titration the reverse spillover occurs very readily with the extent of alkane hydrogenation determined by its time of contact with the catalyst.
