Bis(η-cyclopentadienyl)molybdenum chemistry: synthesis and reactions of ring-functionalised compounds
Abstract
Co-condensation of molybdenum atoms with spiro[2.4]hepta-4,6-diene gives the compound [[graphic omitted]H2)2]. Treatment of [[graphic omitted]H2)2] with iodine gives the tetraiodo-derivative [Mo(η-C5H4CH2CH2I)2I2](2). The tetrabromo- and tetrachloro-analogues of (2) are similarly prepared. The iodo-groups of (2) can be exchanged with the SPh radical to give [Mo(η-C5H4CH2CH2SPh)2(SPh)2] which reacts with hydrogen chloride to form the compound [Mo(η-C5H4CH2CH2SPh)2Cl2](4). Abstraction of a halide ion from (4) gives [[graphic omitted]Ph)(η-C5H4CH2CH2SPh)Cl]PF6. Complex (2) reacts with dimethylamine to give [[graphic omitted]Me2)(η-C5H4CH2CH2NMe2H)H][PF6]2.
