X-Ray crystal and molecular structure of cis(NN′), trans(OO′)-bis-(2-aminoethanolato)-cis-dichloroplatinum(IV) dihydrate. The relationship of anti-tumour activity to ring closure

Abstract

The title complex has been characterised by 1H and 195Pt n.m.r. spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography. The arrangement around the PtIV atom is closely octahedral with bidentate 2-aminoethanolato rather than unidentate 2-aminoethanol ligands. This finding is discussed in relation to its unusually low anti-tumour activity.
