Vanadium thiolate chemistry: preparation and structures of [NMe4]Na[VO(SCH2CH2S)2]·2EtOH and [Ph4P]2[V2(SCH2CH2S)4]

Abstract

Reaction of VO(acac)2(Hacac = pentane-1,4-dione) or VCl3 with ethanolic solutions containing excess of sodium ethane-1,2-dithiolate (Na2edt) yields deep green and deep red solution, respectively, from which the complexes [NMe4]Na[VO(edt)2]·2EtOH (1) and [Ph4P]2[V2(edt)4](2) have been isolated and structurally characterized; e.s.r. data for (1) are include.
