[Pt2Me2(µ-Ph2PCH2PPh2)2][Bf4]2, a highly reactive and co-ordinatively unsaturated di-platinum(II) complex. Crystal structures of [Pt2Me2L2(µ-Ph2PCH2PPh2)2][BF4]2, L = MeCN or CO

Abstract

Treatment of [Pt2Me3(Ph2PCH2PPh2)2][BF4] with Ph3C+BF4 in wet CH2Cl2 gives [Pt2Me2(Ph2PCH2PPh2)2]2+ which reacts rapidly with MeCN, CO, OH, Cl, or MeOH to give several new complexes or adducts, including ‘A-frames’.
