Synthesis and reactivity of cyclonickelated compounds. Crystal and molecular structure of [Ni(CCF3[double bond, length as m-dash]CCF3CH2C6H4NMe2)(PEt3)(µ-Cl)]2

Abstract

o-N,N-Dimethylaminobenzyl-lithium reacted with NiCl2(PR3)2 to give cyclonickelated compounds; hexafluorobut-2-yne was inserted into their Ni–C bonds giving rise to a seven-membered organometallic ring when the phosphine was PMe3, whereas in the case of PEt3 a dimeric compound was obtained.
