Abstract

The efficiency of nucleophiles, (N₃^–, NCS^– and Me₂SO) in combining with the intermediate [Co(CN)₅]^2–depends on the ion from which the intermediate is formed, [Co(CN)₅(OH₂)]^2–, [Co(CN)₅Cl]^3–, or [Co(CN)₅(N₃H)]^2–, thereby suggesting that the substitution of these ions takes place by dissociative interchange, I_d.
