Formation of an alkyne and a 1,3-diene at a dimolybdenum centre by isomerisation of a µ-allylidene complex; synthesis and X-ray structure of [Mo3(µ3-{η4-C·CH·CMe·CH})(CO)4(η-C5H5)3]
Abstract
Thermolysis of [Mo2(µ-CH·CH·CMe2)(CO)4(η-C5H5)2] in toluene–hexane gives [Mo2(µ-HC2Pri)(CO)4(η-C5H5)2], [Mo2(µ-{η4-CH2·CH·C(Me)CH2})(CO)2(η-C5H5)2], alkyne and isoprene complexes, respectively, and in addition the trinuclear complex [Mo3(µ3-{η4-C·CH·CMe·CH})(CO)4(η-C5H5)3], idnetified by X-ray crystallography.
