Isolation and crystal and molecular structure of a rare example of a mononuclear organo-cuprate

Abstract

The reaction of mesitylcopper(I), CuAr, with 1,2-bis (diphenylphosphino)ethane, dppe, gives [(dppe)2Cu2Ar2], whose molecular structure, determined by a single-crystal X-ray study, consist of a linear mononuclear [CuAr2] unit with a tetrahedral [Cu(dppe)2]+ unit as counter-ion.
