Application of zirconium molybdophosphate gel for the selective separation of thallium(I) ions

Abstract

Zirconium molybdophosphate has been prepared in the form of hard yellow granules. The product possesses an ion-exchange capacity of 0.42 mequiv. gā€“1 and shows selectivity for Ag+, Tl+, UO22+ and Th4+ ions. It has been possible to separate Tl+ ions selectively on columns of this ion-exchanger material, but only Tl+ ions can be eluted completely.
