Charge-transfer interactions of thionine and toluidine blue with amines

Abstract

The interactions of two dye ions, thionine and Toluidine Blue with a variety of amines have been studied in methanol. New electronic transitions and isosbestic points have been observed in the electronic absorption spectra. The equilibrium and spectroscopic data have been interpreted in terms of a charge-transfer interaction between the dye ions and amines.
