Reactions of π-allyltricarbonylhalogenoiron complexes and synthesis of new organoiron compounds

Abstract

The reactions of [Fe(CO)₃(η³-C₃H₅)X](X = Br or I) with Ag[ClO₄] in dichloromethane yielded the perchlorate-bonded complex [Fe(CO)₃(η³-C₃H₅)(OClO₃)](3). Complex (3) is a suitable precursor for the synthesis of the cationic complexes [Fe(CO)₃(η³-C₃H₅)L][ClO₄](L = PPh₃, AsPh₃, and pyridine). [Fe(CO)₃(η³-C₃H₅)(PPh₃)][ClO₄] reacts with univalent bidentate ligands (L′= acetylacetonate 8-hydroxyquinolinate, and N-phenylsalicylaldiminate) to give the neutral complexes [Fe(CO)(σ-C₃H₅)(PPh₃)L′].
