A novel type of diazadiene co-ordination behaviour. X-Ray structure of a rhodium complex with bridging azomethine groups

Abstract

The single crystal X-ray diffraction study of the complex with seemingly simple stoicheiometry (dad) RhCl (dad = ButN[double bond, length half m-dash]CH–CH[double bond, length half m-dash]NBut), obtained from the room temperature reaction of [(C2H4)2RhCl]2 with dad, indicates a cleavage of the central C–C bond in one out of two dad ligands to result in two bridging azomethine groups in [(dad)ClRh(µ-HC[double bond, length half m-dash]N–But)2Rh(µ′-Cl)]2(4).
