Butyl-lithium-induced dimerization of pent-3-en-1-yne and some derivatives

Abstract

The enynes HC[triple bond, length half m-dash]CCH[double bond, length half m-dash]CHCH2R(R = H, OMe, NMe2, SMe) are converted into dimers HC[triple bond, length half m-dash]CCH[double bond, length half m-dash]CHCH(R)CH(CH2R)CH2C[triple bond, length half m-dash]CH by treatment with butyl-lithium in a mixture of tetrahydrofuran and hexane.
