The dimerisation of [I2+] to [I42+] in fluorosulphuric acid solution: 127I Mössbauer spectroscopic evidence

Abstract

Iodine-127 Mössbauer spectroscopic data are used to show that at low temperature, the [I2+] cation in flourosulphuric acid dimerises to the [I42+] cation; the frozen solution data are compared with those for authentic [I42+] salts.
