A Rh cluster which selectively reduces aldehyde functions using co and H2O as the hydrogen source

Abstract

The Rh6(CO)16N,N,N,′N′-tetramethyl-1,3-propanediamine catalyst system has high activity for the reduction of aldehydes using CO and H2O as the hydrogen source; unsaturated aldehydes give the corresponding unsaturated alcohols in high yields.
