E.s.r. spectra and structure of the tetramethylsilance and tetramethylgermane radical cations

Abstract

Solid-state e.s.r. studies show that SiMe4+ and GeMe4+ adopt C2v symmetry rather than the D2d or C3v symmetries allows by Jahn–Teller distortions from the Td symmetry of the parent molecules.
