Preferential promotion by neutral mercury(II) complexes

Abstract

It is shown that neutral mercury(II) species such as HgCl2 and Hg(SCN)2can be better promoters of the hydrolysis of a soft substrate than Hg2+ ions, an effect not found previously except with cationic substrates.
