Polyhalogenoaromatic compounds. Part 34. Syntheses of perfluoroaza- and -diaza-cyclohexadiene derivatives by fluorination of perfluoroazines and -diazines

Abstract

Fluorination of perfluoroalkyl-pyridines, -pyrimidines, and -pyrazines, using cobalt trifluoride, gave corresponding aza- and diaza-cyclodienes, in some cases in high yields. Perfluoroalkylpyridazines gave products arising from loss of nitrogen and provide a novel route to some highly crowded perfluorinated olefins. Fluorination with elemental fluorine gave an unusal dimer with perfluoropyrimidine, while perfluoroalkylpyridazines gave products similar to those obtained using cobalt trifluoride.
