Photochemical behaviour of bicyclo[5.3.1]undec-1(10)-en-9-one

Abstract

Bicyclo[5.3.1]undec-1(10)-en-9-one undergoes photodeconjugation to give bicyclo[5.3.1]undec-1(2)-en-9-one, which, in turn is transformed into the corresponding methylenebicyclo[4.2.2]decanone. The non-volatile fraction of the photolysate is shown to be a mixture of cyclobutane-type dimeric derivatives.
