Electronic and vibrational spectra of [Me4N]2UO2Cl4
Abstract
Raman, polarised infrared, electronic absorption and luminescence spectra of [Me4N]2UO2Cl4 have been measured at temperatures down to 10 K. The four lowest excited states have B2g, B3g, Ag and B1g symmetry in D2h symmetry. These are analogous to the corresponding states in Cs2UO2Cl4. The crystals readily absorb water from laboratory air with the creation of non-equivalent uranyl sites. A previous interpretation of the spectra of this compound is incorrect.
