Application of non-equilibrium thermodynamics to osmosis and permeation
Abstract
Non-equilibrium thermodynamics is applied to the experimental data of a ternary osmotic system. In order to prove whether the membrane is symmetric or not, a theoretical treatment up to second-order phenomena has been derived, which is based upon certain ideas of Haase and Sauer. The transport system can be described by linear constitutive equations which fulfill Onsager's reciprocal relations.
