Recoil tritium reactions with molecular hydrogen. Part 1.—Scavenger effects

Abstract

Scavenger curves for O2, Br2 and ICl scavengers have been obtained in the T + H2 system moderated by helium, argon and krypton. Results indicate that scavenger competition is significant with all three scavengers but that the behaviour of oxygen scavenger is also sensitive to the nature of the moderator present. It is suggested that this behaviour arises because of the three-body nature of the oxygen scavenging process.
