A high ratio hydrido-metal cluster: synthesis and X-ray crystal structure of [Pt5H8(PBut2Ph)5]

Abstract

Reaction of [Pt(C2H4)2(PBut2Ph)] with hydrogen affords [Pt5H8(PBu2tPh)5] which has a distorted trigonal bipyramidal solid-state structure and time-averaged D3h symmetry in solution, with two terminal and six bridging hydride ligands.
