Synthesis and X-ray crystal structure of 1,5-bis(acetoxymethyl)-tricyclo[2.1.0.02,5]pentan-3-one

Abstract

1,5-Bis(acetoxymethyl)tricyclo[2·1.0·02,5] pentan-3-one (1) has been synthesized from 1,2-bis(acetoxymethyl)-3-diazoacetylcyclopropene by dirhodium tetra-acetate-catalysed intramolecular addition of the diazoketone to the cyclopropene double bond; an X-ray crystal structure determination of (1) reveals an extremely short bridging carbon-carbon bond.
